FTX restricted jurisdictions: Step 8 and the 44 countries without a payout provider

How Step 8 blocks a payout

Step 8 comes after identity verification (Step 3) and the tax form (Step 7). The providers offered depend on the residence recorded during verification. When none of them serves that jurisdiction, there is no provider to select and the distribution waits.

The 44 jurisdictions on the FTX list

The six-month onboarding window: who it applies to

FTX ties the six-month window to Allowed claims. Its support page counts the window from the first distribution date associated with the claim being Allowed, and states that a holder who does not complete Step 8 in time may forfeit distributions on that claim.

For jurisdictions that no provider can serve, FTX writes that the distribution “will be deferred to a later date” and lists an ineligible jurisdiction as a reason a claim may remain Disputed. The FTX pages reviewed set no onboarding deadline for creditors in those jurisdictions.

Which buyers state they work with restricted jurisdictions

Coverage by jurisdiction

Each line shows what the companies publish about that country. FTX SELL publishes a page per country; ClaimBao and Qredax name some countries and describe the rest in general terms. A dash means the country is not named, not that the company declines it.

What this means for a creditor

1. Check the current FTX list and your own FTX Customer Portal account; the list changes, and the FTX Customer Portal shows the providers available for your recorded residence.
2. If your residence has changed, update it through the official FTX support process instead of selecting another country.
3. If your claim is Allowed and a provider serves your jurisdiction, track the six-month onboarding window; FTX states distributions may be forfeited if Step 8 is not completed in time.
4. A distribution and a claim sale are separate. A buyer becomes the holder through a transfer notice filed in the bankruptcy case, and each buyer sets its own country and sanctions conditions.
